According to PRIO Cyprus Centre, law 41/1977 and its amendments distributed property left behind in the north in 1974 to displaced Turkish Cypriots against points representing property they left in the south (the "equivalent property" mechanism introduced by amendment 27/1982), and to other categories such as those who served in 1974 and settlers, through "definitive possession certificates".
