Rule
According to Immigration Department, the Immigration Department's own published guidance for property-linked short-term residence states that permits are issued one year at a time during the first three years, and, once title is registered in the applicant's own name, two years at a time after that.[1]
Exceptions
- This Rule states CURRENT OFFICIAL ADMINISTRATIVE GUIDANCE (the Immigration Department's own website), not confirmed primary legislation. The current Residence Permits and Visas Regulation text instead states a property-value-tiered permit for the titled-owner category (10 years at/above £300,000, 5 years below it, since the 2 October 2026 amendment A.E.932/2026 — previously a flat five years), with no income condition either way — see the Conflict record property-owner-residence-income-and-duration, which preserves both this guidance and the regulation text without resolving which one governs in practice beyond what the Founder has separately confirmed about current practice. This Rule's own website-sourced figures have not been re-checked since 2026-09-22; whether the Department's website has since been updated to reflect the 2 October regulation change is not yet known.
Competing interpretations
- The current Residence Permits and Visas Regulation text (Article 14(2)(b)(iv), as amended 2 October 2026) instead states a property-value-tiered permit — 10 years at/above £300,000, 5 years below it — with no income condition either way, for the same titled-owner category. [2]
