Rule
The Central Bank of the TRNC is the sole authority responsible for supervision and audit of the implementation of the Banking Law. Anyone who learns a bank's or a customer's secrets in the course of their role is bound by a confidentiality obligation that continues after they leave their post, subject to exceptions such as disclosure required by law or a permitted public statement.[1]
Exceptions
- Source is an English translation hosted on the Central Bank's own site, of unconfirmed official/unofficial status, not cross-checked word-for-word against the Turkish original.
- The Central Bank's own founding/independence statute (Law 41/2001) was not read, so its own powers beyond what the Banking Law describes are not independently confirmed here.
